Journal of Business Venturing Best Paper Awards

The Lazaridis Institute is pleased to partner with the Journal of Business Venturing (JBV) to recognize exceptional research published in that journal.

JBV provides a scholarly forum for sharing useful and interesting theories, narratives, and interpretations of the antecedents, mechanisms, and/or consequences of entrepreneurship. It is a multi-disciplinary, multi-functional, and multi-contextual journal publishing entrepreneurship research that is widely recognized as the premiere journal in the field of entrepreneurship. JBV is a Financial Times Top 50 Journal, and leads the field in all pertinent metrics of impact.

This year, the JBV editorial board decided to reinstitute the Best Paper Award, including retrospective recognition of highly impactful articles.

We are pleased to announce the following winners:

2014 – Ethan Mollick: The dynamics of crowdfunding

2015 – Per Davidsson: Entrepreneurial opportunities and the entrepreneurship nexus: A reconceptualization

2016 – Gabriella Cacciotti, James C Hayton, J Robert Mitchell and Andres Giazitzoglu: A reconceptualization of fear of failure in entrepreneurship

2017 – Greg Fisher, Donald F Kuratko, James M Bloodgood and Jeffrey S Hornsby: Legitimate to whom? The challenge of audience diversity and new venture legitimacy

Each paper receives a cash prize of $2,000 CAD to be shared amongst the authors, and all authors receive a plaque denoting their achievement.

Congratulations to the winners, past and future!
