Esteemed finance professor, Andrew Karolyi, speaks with faculty and students at Lazaridis School of Business and Economics

Wilfrid Laurier University’s Lazaridis School of Business and Economics faculty and students were recently treated to an intimate discussion with Professor Andrew Karolyi, of SC Johnson College of Business at Cornell University.

Organized by the Lazaridis Institute for the Management of Technology Enterprises, the 90-minute online session provided the opportunity to learn about Karolyi’s career as an internationally recognized scholar in global financial markets as well as a chance to hear about his latest research on the deglobalization of financial markets in the aftermath of the financial crisis and recession. The latter sparked a lively discussion among participants, generating further areas of research that Koralyi hopes to investigate.

“The Lazaridis School of Business and Economics holds a special place in my heart,” remarked Karolyi, whose ties with the university date back to 1993 when he was first invited to speak at a finance research seminar.

“We are so very grateful to Professor Karolyi for taking the time to speak with our faculty and students,” said Lazaridis Institute Research Director, Bill Morrison. “Andrew's research track record and his current research agenda is cutting-edge in terms of our understanding of how international financial markets have evolved over time. Not only that, but his enthusiasm and energy for research is infectious and we look forward to him visiting in-person as a Lazaridis Institute Visiting Scholar when the current pandemic restrictions are gone for good."
