New Canada Research Chair at the Lazaridis School

Dr. Ivona Hideg, Associate Professor of Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management at the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics, has been awarded the Canada Research Chair (CRC) (Tier II) in Organizational Leadership. She joins other Lazaridis School CRCs Dr. Tripat Gill (Market Insight and Innovation) and Dr. Andriy Shkilko (Financial Markets).

“I am deeply honoured and moved by receiving this prestigious award and joining the ranks of highly-talented scholars and thought leaders across Canada,” says Hideg. “This is a huge honour, but also a huge responsibility. I hope that my work will lead to important insights for government and organizational policy-making in terms of advancing gender equality and enabling women’s success in top leadership positions. More broadly, I hope that my work will contribute to the prosperity of our society, our economic well-being, and will lead to a better world for all Canadians.”

Hideg’s research includes workplace diversity, gender quality, and inclusion. She examines issues surrounding culture, ethnicity, language, and socio-economic background diversity. Her award-winning research is published in premiere journals including the Academy of Management Journal and Journal of Applied Psychology and is featured in Harvard Business Review, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times. As a testament to her research expertise, Hideg was recently appointed Associate Editor at the Academy of Management Journal. As a gifted educator and research leader, the Lazaridis Institute is proud to support her research project: “Tackling the Gender Gap in Entrepreneurship: The Role of Benevolent Sexist Attitudes in Under-Funding of Female-Led Ventures.”
